Milan agree deal in principle for Catania's Maxi Lopez

AC Milan and Catania have an agreement in principle for striker Maxi Lopez, but the deal depends on whether the Rossoneri look to other options.

The Italian giants are understood to be scouring the market for a new forward option after being struck by the news that Antonio Cassano will miss several months of action after undergoing minor heart surgery last week.

Earlier on Monday, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed that he believed that Maxi Lopez would be a nice addition to his side, but the former Barcelona striker is not certain to join them despite a potential transfer fee being agreed.

Juventus' Fabio Quagliarella, 28, is reportedly a target of the San Siro outfit. The Italy international has made just one appearance since joining the Bianconeri on a permanent basis in the summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea veteran Didier Drogba is seemingly another possibility. The 33-year-old has less than a year to run on his contract with the Blues, which could leave the Premier League side open to the idea of selling the player, who has made just seven appearances this term. [Goal.com]
