Porto president confirms €15m release clause in Andre Villas-Boas' contract

Porto president Pinta Da Costa has confirmed an offer of €15 million would trigger the release clause in coach Andre Villas-Boas’ contract.

The tactician has been linked with a host of European clubs after guiding his side to a treble this season, but despite existence of a release clause, Da Costa is confident Villa-Boas will remain at the club.

“I do not expect the exit of Villas-Boas, there is a clause price of €15m - but I am totally convinced that even if any club came in with the offer, he would reject the proposition,” Da Costa told RTP.

“Villas-Boas is very committed to Porto and more so after this big season.

“Two days ago he also told me that if no players leave, then he will not even need any new players.”

Da Costa is also confident of keeping hold of the club's key players and having recently secured the long-term future of Hulk, he is switching his focus to fellow forward Radamel Falcao.

“This is being looked at,” he added.

“He has already showed a willingness to renew, but he has a two-year contract so I am not worried.”
