Barcelona's Lionel Messi believes Manchester United will 'want to take their revenge' for 2009 Champions League final defeat

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has warned his team-mates that Manchester United will be out for revenge when the two sides meet in the final of the Champions League on Saturday.

The two sides previously met at the same stage of the tournament two years ago, when the Spanish club cruised to a 2-0 victory to claim the trophy.

Now the 23-year-old believes the Red Devils will be out to settle the score at Wembley.

"It could be a spectacular game because Manchester play a quite open game," Messi said, according to The Mirror.

"Like Arsenal and a bit like us. They don’t play as high [up the pitch], but it is a rather technical team that wants to play.

"They are a great team, practically the same as two years ago without [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Carlos] Tevez. They have a lot of great players. And they want to take their revenge."

The Argentine was also hesitated making any predictions prior to the game, except for hoping that his side win another European crown.

"I have got no idea what will happen. All scenarios are possible. In football, anything can happen," he added.

"Now, I am going to do everything possible to help the team win and I really hope we will be rewarded."
