Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose's future at the club hangs in balance

Miroslav Klose and his agent are still locked in contract negotiations with Bayern Munich and an agreement is not expected in the foreseeable future, according to Bild.

The two parties have so far been unable to iron out a satisfactory deal for Klose, whose current expires this summer, with the length of the contract being the main issue.

Bayern Munich have reportedly tabled a one-year deal with reduced wages and the automatic option of a one-year renewal in case the striker manages to accumulate 20 appearances for the club throughout the next season.

The player is allegedly unhappy with these conditions, however, and wants a two-year contract with no clauses inserted. Klose and his agent are unwilling to back down, with their trump card being new coach Jupp Heynckes' wish to keep the Germany international.

The in-demand striker's agent, Alex Schutt, is set to hold final talks with the Bavarians today. Juventus, Valencia, Tottenham and Everton have recently expressed a desire to sign Klose, with their interest likely to intensify should the negotiations fail once again.
