Borriello labelled a 'mercenary' by Roma fans
Roma fans watching their side's pre-season training voiced their opinions on Marco Borriello's loan spell at Juventus last season by calling the player a "mercenary" as the team trained on Saturday.
New manager Zdenek Zeman and the squad have travelled to Riscone for their pre-season training camp, and on the first day of training a large number of fans were there to watch their side, with many of them taking the opportunity to criticise Borriello.
The Italian striker returned to training with his parent club for the first time today after spending the latter half of last season on loan at the eventual Serie A champions Juventus. Midway through the 2011-2012 season Borriello was deemed surplus to requirements by Roma's then-manager Luis Enrique, which led to his loan move to their rivals Juventus.
Three hundred spectators were present in Riscone as the squad were put through their paces by Zeman, but it was not long before they were firing insults at Borriello.
First there were comments about his hairstyle, then a loud, clear chant of "mercenary" followed. The attacker was clearly angered by these shouts, and after muttering to himself, was then whistled furiously by the watching fans.
The abuse did not last long however, and after a few minutes Borriello was able to train in peace with the rest of the Roma squad, as the fans quietened down.
