City: Milan not alone in Tevez race

Manchester City have warned Milan that they are not the only club interested in signing Carlos Tevez.

The Rossoneri have finalised personal terms with the striker, but they have yet to reach an agreement with the English club.

The Italians admitted this week that they are prepared to wait until the last hour of the transfer window to get their man, but the English outfit have questioned such tactics.

“You know there are more clubs than just Milan interested in Tevez,” stated City official Brian Marwood to Sky Sports News.

“If they choose to wait until the end of the window then they may pay that price if other clubs come in before them.”

Milan want to take the striker on a temporary basis in January before possibly signing him outright at the end of the season.

“The position hasn’t changed,” added Marwood. “Milan came to us with a loan option, which was something we rejected and that still stays the same.

“Clearly Milan have decided to conduct their business through the media. That's something we choose not to do and will continue not to do and things haven't changed – Carlos Tevez is still a Manchester City football player.

“I don’t know what will happen,” he added.

“He's made his desire to leave the football club known. The club have gone on record to say they will consider that and it just really depends on us receiving something that is acceptable to Manchester City.

“That's no different to where we were before and that will not change. We'll have to see what the next three to four weeks bring.”

The Gazzetta dello Sport suggested today that Milan would hold talks with City at some stage next week in an effort to reach a compromise for the 27-year-old striker. [Football-italia.net]
