Juventus have no intention of meeting Porto's €30 million valuation of Fernando, who is set to leave the Portuguese champions this summer.

Roma, Inter and Lyon have also been credited with interest in the midfielder but an excessive buy-out fee has brought Juve's chase to an end.

"Fernando for €30 million is impossible," a Juventus source told Goal.com. "There was contact with Porto. There were a number of talks [in which] Juve made enquiries for Fernando.

"But, following [Antonio] Conte's arrival, over the last few weeks the situation has changed and Juve are speaking less about him."

The Italian side are in the market for significant midfield reinforcements following the capture of Andrea Pirlo with Udinese's Gokhan Inler and Liverpool's Alberto Aquilani also linked. However any signing would have to be in line with the designated budgetary constraints.

"€30m for Fernando is just too much for Juve," the source continued. "They will not spend €30m for a player of this quality. They will only spend this type of money for someone like [Alexis] Sanchez.

"The feeling is for a high class midfielder they want to spend between €10m and €15m, not more than that."

Portuguese source A Bola reports that Lyon are confident of landing a discount on the 24-year-old due to their smooth relations with Porto following the transfers of Lisandro Lopez and Aly Cissohko in previous seasons.

After winning the Portuguese Cup last month, Fernando voiced his wish to leave the club: "We will see what will be defined, but I hope it will be excellent for me. After winning so many titles for FC Porto and one Europa League, I think this is the right moment [to leave]".
