Barcelona B's Luis Enrique in the frame for Roma coaching post - report

Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique is one of the candidates for the position of head coach at ambitious Serie A side Roma, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Current boss Vincenzo Montella is widely expected to vacate the post at the capital giants this summer, and a number of candidates such as Marseille's Didier Deschamps, former Chile tactician Marcelo Bielsa and ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti have been linked with taking over.

Enrique ended his playing career at Barca in the summer of 2004, but returned to Catalunya four years later to take the reins as the club's B team, and he has since impressed, with his good work also alerting a number of La Liga clubs.

Recent reports from Spain suggested that the 41-year-old was close to signing a deal with Atletico Madrid, but the Barca B tactician has denied the rumours, stating: "Atletico are a very good option, since it is a big club and it is a good opportunity to train in the first division.

"But I still have three games left with Barcelona B, and when the time comes, we will see."

Enrique's contract with Barcelona B expires this summer and he has confirmed that he will not sign a new deal with the Catalans.
