Lazio interested in Atalanta defender Peluso

The 26-year-old defender has been linked with a switch to the Stadio Olimpico with the Aquile, who have made him a priority after their interest in Italy's Euro 2012 star Federico Balzaretti was cooled by Palermo chairman Maurizio Zamparini.

Peluso, who joined the Atalanta in 2009, made 33 Serie A appearances last term, with his contract expiring in 2014.

According to the report, Lazio are willing to part with up to €5 million (£3.9m) to land the defender, with Guglielmo Stendardo - who spent the second half of the season on loan at Atalanta - being used as a possible makeweight in any deal.

It is also believed that Lazio are interested in Simon Poulsen, a member of Denmark's Euro 2012 team who is currently a free agent after leaving AZ in June, with president Claudio Lotito keen to find a key player in the left-back position in Vladimir Petkovic's side.
