Arsenal's Chamakh targeted by Besiktas

The Morocco international, 28, joined the Gunners from Bordeaux in 2010 but has been pushed down the pecking order having scored just one goal in 19 competitive appearances last season.

He is expected to move on at some stage before the August 31 deadline and the Inonu outfit are the latest club to be credited with an interest in ending Chamakh's stint in north London.

With Filip Holosko's anticipated departure coupled with the failure of the likes of Hugo Almeida and Mustafa Pektemek in convincing coach Samet Aybaba of their ability to lead the line, Besiktas have been forced to dip into the market for a striker.

However, a potential stumbling block appears to be the Turkish club's insistence on securing Chamakh on loan, while Arsenal are holding out for a permanent transfer that would see them pocket a fee in the region of 5 million (£3.9m).
