Terry in, Rio & Rooney out for England

England boss Fabio Capello has maintained his promise to omit Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney from his squad for the November friendlies against Spain and Sweden as Chelsea centre-back John Terry is included despite an ongoing FA investigation into his alleged racial abuse of QPR's Anton Ferdinand.

Meanwhile, Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has earned a call-up to the England roster along with Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell. Sturridge has impressed for the Under-21 squad and joins Manchester United's Danny Welbeck and Fulham's Bobby Zamora, as Rooney is left out following his suspension for the opening three games of Euro 2012.

Terry is also named in the squad, after Capello said the Clues defender would be considered "innocent until proven guilty" on Saturday over the ongoing FA investigation. Meanwhile, there is no place for the experience of Rio Ferdinand, or Manchester City right-back Micah Richards. Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson has been included after his recent return from injury, while the squad takes an otherwise familiar shape for the upcoming Wembley clashes. [Goal.com]
