Roma announce the appointments of new president and CEO

Roma have confirmed the appointments of Roberto Cappelli and Claudio Fenucci as the team's new president and CEO respectively, though Cappelli will only be in post for a one-month period.

Rosella Sensi departed from her roles as president and CEO at the end of last season to make way for new owner Thomas DiBenedetto and signal the dawn of a new era in Rome.

The 52-year-old Cappelli has been chosen to take up the role of president, and he already has existing links with the club having previously been the lawyer of UniCredit, the bank that repossessed Roma last year.

However, he has stated that the role will only be on an interim basis for the duration of one month, as he is in place simply to ensure the takeover is approved by the Roma board of directors.

"As a Roma fan, it's an honour for me to be president but it will last only a month," Cappelli said, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. "What matters is having a winning squad. The idea here is to make the club run more efficiently."

Meanwhile, Fenucci has been given the post of CEO, after recently resigning as general manager of Lecce, but, unlike Cappelli, his role is permanent and he will now be responsible for rubber-stamping transfer deals.

Paolo Fiorentino and Mauro Baldissoni have also been appointed as the members of Roma's new executive committee to work in tandem with Cappelli and Fenucci, and thus the quartet will effectively run the club for their new Italo-American employer.
