Manchester United midfielder Ji-Sung Park will play '100%' to make dreams come true against Barcelona

Manchester United midfielder Ji-Sung Park is determined to make it third time lucky as the Red Devils face Barcelona in the Champions League final on Saturday.

The South Korean international missed the 2008 Champions League final victory against Chelsea as manager Sir Alex Ferguson left him out, but was selected in Rome the next year where they were defeated 2-0.

And Park is hoping that he can cap off a fantastic season with a victory on Saturday.

"Missing out on one final and losing another makes me more eager to play and win this game - against which team it doesn't matter," he told reporters.

"If I play and we win the game it will be fantastic for me. It is my dream but I have to play 100 per cent for my dreams to come true.

"Obviously Barcelona are one of the best clubs in the world so if we beat them we will create the perfect final - for me as well.

"It is a great game against one of the best teams in the world and it is in England.

"They have changed a couple of players from 2009 but their style has not changed. We have changed as well. I don't know what way we will play but we have to show a difference from 2009."

Park admits that he still gets an adrenaline rush when he hears he is in the starting line-up.

"It is great when I hear the words: 'you are playing'. Everyone wants to play for a big club in big games," he added.

"When I was young I couldn't believe [it would happen] but it has come true and now I just have to do what the boss wants me to do."

Many believe Park's tireless running will make him a pivotal cog in the machine to stop 52-goal Lionel Messi at Wembley.

However, the Korean insists that the whole of the midfield will need to be at their best to stop the Catalans' fluid style.

"I don't know which role I will have in the final but I have to do it 100% and play only for winning the game," he said.

"We have great midfielders as well: Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, and Anderson - they have great ability to stop them.

"If we play as a team like we showed against Chelsea or in other big games we can match up against them.

"Javier Hernandez, Anderson and Nani have had great seasons and it is all about our squad being stronger [than it was at the start of the season] and that will help us in the final.

Speaking about Messi, he said: "He is one of the best players in the world - everyone knows that and everyone knows one defender can't stop him so we have to defend as a team.

"We have to keep an eye on him in the game. Some players have said to me that I can stop him - that sounds great but one man can't stop him, we have to play as a team.

"Everyone will give 100% to stop him."
